A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Missy Wolf began her professional career taking pictures of Club Med tourists on the ski slopes of the Rocky Mountains. With an avid passion for all things media, she has worked as a graphic artist, web designer, video documenter, television executive producer, and publisher of a fashion magazine. Missy has photographed numerous professional models, artists, authors and actors for a variety of newspapers, magazines, and books. She is the first place recipient of the 2008 Bogen Imaging Award.
The current works of Missy Wolf was born from the tension between her early passion for fashion photography and later realizations about the objectification of gender roles and sexual identities. The exploration of these topics and Missy’s continuing examination of related issues have led to other themes within her photography, including studies of the American family, social injustice, objectification and religious hypocrisy. Her digital portraits are intentionally set against stark backgrounds to suggest a theatrical stage where conflicting forces between perception and reality are played out.
