So How Does a Session Work?
1. Through our initial conversation I will gather basic some information about you, what you’d like to work on in the coming months and what you have already been doing in this area (what’s working and what’s not). It’s also important for me to know if you have a vision of what your life will look and feel like once you have reached your goal(s).
2. You'll receive a simple homework assignment to be completed prior to our first session. This assignment asks three simple, driving questions that will be the basis and direction of our coaching.
3. When we meet (or connect by phone) for our first session, I'll use the responses you gave in the homework assignment as a foundation upon which to help you gain your new perspective. The integration of this new perspective occurs through changing your thoughts and beliefs in the area/s you identified. This is a somatic process that uses breathing, visualization and awareness of the associated sensations. I'll suggest some activities that you can do until our next session that will help anchor your new perspective. Given that you are one with your environment and your experience, you can plant anything that you want to see grow. Once it is in place in your inner world it is a certainty that it will show up in your outer world. You really do have choices; once you create and see them as a result of your new perspective, you can choose them. It’s really quite simple.
It's a Matter of Perspective...
Many of us have read the book, There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. I agree that this is true. At a deeper level, I suggest that there are no problems and I believe that Wayne would agree. What we often call problems (with our health, body image, relationships, career, outlook, family, etc.) – is a matter of perspective. Our perspective in this case has narrowed and we have focused in on a thought, belief, person, object, event or habit pattern that can seem insurmountable.
“I have a drinking problem and I just can’t stop,” or “I just can’t get along with my father/mother/spouse/child, this situation feels impossible,” or “My belly is huge and it will never get back to what it once was,” or “I keep repeating the same unfulfilling patterns and I don’t know how to change!”
The work done in the coaching relationship:
Changing perspective (seeing around)
Engaging in inspired action (motivation)
Remaining present (being in balance)
Having a healthy (but not overactive) inquiry
into one's current beliefs.
Quite simple, Very effective!
